Programme profile
In this programme, you will examine the complexities of life and society and see how individuals and groups live and work together. You will also explore how best to respond to individual needs and to the particular requirements of marginalised members of society.
Programme content
In Stage 1, you take your modules from a range of subjects. As well as taking eight core modules in Social Policy and Sociology, you may also take optional modules from Geography, Psychology, Politics, Economics, Archaeology and Information Studies.
In Stage 2, you will choose one of seven study paths that have been designed to allow you to directly enter the labour market or to progress to graduate study, leading to a range of interesting and rewarding careers. You select one of the paths below:
1.Social Work
2.Environmental
3.Advanced Research
4.Human Resources
5.Policy Analysis
6.Crime and Social Order
7.Information and Social Computing
(students can opt for a professional qualification in Librarianship within this Path)
Entry Requirements
Students must present six subjects of which two must be at grade C or above at Advanced GCE (A-Level. Others must be at least at grade C or above on GCSE or Advanced Subsidiary GCE (AS) papers. The six subjects above must include:English, Mathematics and a language other than English.
